Grow a pair is a little vulgar, how about “I’m a man, I can do whatever I want.”
Yea, like you I am no fan of the terminology, though our reasoning differs. I personally find such language misogynistic and putting across the notion that to be strong or brave you need testiticles.
True, it is a bit vulgar, but the shock value of it might get people thinking…
Honestly…no. I find that terminology misogynistic. “grow a pair” male centric and puts across the notion only men can be strong and brave, eg to be strong, you “need a pair”. It is as bad as “man up” or “that person’s got some brass balls”. A far prefer “get a spine” or “That person’s got guts” or other non sex specific terms…plus…Testicals are effing WEAK.
That is certainly a good point. It was the dichotomy between the reference to the male testicles and the skirt that made the phrase really stand out for me in comparison to others.
I agree with other comments.
I personally fight against toxic masculinity so this message would be counterproductive.
How about something like: “Masculinity is NOT where you think it is”
Kind regards 🦋
To be complete, I don’t like t-shirts either 😉
That is fair enough!
Nope. Don’t wish to add to the coarseness of public discourse. Also don’t like t-shirts.
True, the coarseness of public discourse is certainly something to take into consideration!
