Thorough piece. It’s unfortunate that it continues to identify what are only TRADITIONALLY women’s clothes as just Women’s Clothes (as if ordained rather than merely habitual). That shows the implicit bias built into even the most ardent supporter of clothing-choice freedom.
I agree. It’s an amazingly difficult habit to break having grown up in a time when they were considered to only be “women’s clothes”. Even I have to consciously be careful with wording sometimes when writing my posts. Habits you’ve had since childhood are incredibly hard to break.
I need to read more of this user’s stories.
Honestly, replacing trousers by skirts is kinda like both quitting and entering Truman Show. Quitting, because there are a lot of people who tell you – yes, just do it, maybe not now but in near future; but they will rather push you away from this idea and make you stop in the current position and shape, so men wearing skirt in my opinion has something with leaving the “comfort zone” and fully safe habits.
At the same, you can clearly notice people looking at you more than before, yet you can get some paranoiac thoughts of being followed by other people and world simply focusing on you more than ever, which I would consider actually entering Truman Show in this case, to some degree of course.
I do too. It looks like he has some pretty good content.
I haven’t actually seen The Truman Show so I can’t say much about it, but you are certainly right about a lot of men having to leave their comfort zone to wear skirts and also about the fact that more people look at you. If you’re the paranoid or worrying type, that might be disconcerting…
