Today marks the first anniversary of the very first post I wrote for The Beskirted Man. It’s hard to believe how quickly a year passes.
Not only has a huge amount happened in my personal life, including becoming a father, but this blog has grown by leaps and bounds. I really can’t believe how much interest it has generated.
When I started it, I thought I would be writing about such a niche topic that just a few people would be interested in it. I never expected to be getting so many wonderful comments and interactions from other men from all over the world who share my interest in gender non-conforming clothes.
And for that, I am very grateful. I have enjoyed the journey immensely and am extremely excited to see where the next year takes us — not only with the website, but with the whole topic of men in skirts and other gender non-conforming clothes.
Let’s just keep on rockin’ those skirts and show the world that men can wear them and other gender non-conforming clothes too!
Well thank you for doing it. It is showing the world that what we wear doesn’t change who we are.
You’re most certainly welcome. I have been thoroughly enjoying the journey. A year ago, I never dreamed that it would become so popular 😉
Alex, I found de blog just a few days and totally agree with the comments I’ve read, very inspirating. I wear dresses at home and usually to take de trash out, getting more confident little by little. Regards from Bs.As. Argentina.
I’m glad you find it inspiring! That is my ultimate goal: to inspire other people to just be themselves and gain the confidence to wear what they want!
Thanks Alex, I’m not here since beginning but I try to regularly check older stuff you posted. This will be a niche topic / concept for several years I think, with little fluctuation of visitors, comments, people picking it up to the public and so on; but at least you took step to make it shine online and try to remove idea of male wearing skirts from ‘taboo’.
I believe most of the visitors try to do it everyday as well, so let’s continue in this year – even if no one outside general ‘beskirted’ community in various places on the Internet (femboys included) gets convinced to try out a skirt, as long as there are some guys already here, this is probably more important because there are already some people who believe, that clothes do not have gender and most importantly, do not imply who we are (or rather how “bad / wrong” we are).
It will be a niche topic for a while yet unfortunately, but the more exposure we get, the more mainstream it will become. You’d be amazed at the amount of search traffic I get on this blog with people searching for “men in skirts” and “my husband wears skirts” and all sorts of searches. That shows me that it’s becoming more prevalent! I definitely hope it’s not “taboo” for much longer!
There are a surprising number of men who wear skirts. While I knew about forums such as Skirt Cafe before, I didn’t expect there to be so many. And of course those are only the men who go online and talk about it! I’m sure there are a lot more out there that are entirely silent.
WE are indeed fortunate to have you and your interest and willingness to build and share this blog. Thank you for being you and doing this. Eager to see what comes next!
Thank you! I’m really happy to do it and enjoy it thoroughly!
What about a Discord / Telegram group?
That really isn’t a bad idea. I might just do that. If I do, I’ll announce it here!
We should be able to wear what we like/want to wear without being judged by others, the expression Gender non Conforming makes it sound like we are doing something wrong, hope that statement makes sense.
I absolutely agree, however, since what we’re trying to achieve here isn’t mainstream yet or even all that common, we still need some sort of a phrase for it so that we (and others) know what we’re talking about…
